About the 2009 AACR Education Book
Education Committee Co-Chairpersons Joanna L. Groden and Olufunmilayo I. Olopade developed 27 Educational Sessions, 17 Methods Workshops, and 14 Basic Science-Clincal Interface Sessions for the 2009 AACR Educational Program. Presenters in these sessions were invited to submit an original manuscript summarizing their field of interest for publication in the 2009 AACR Education Book.
A total of 44 presenters submitted articles for publication in the Education Book. Original manuscripts were submitted in the following general format:
Abstract. A brief summary of the presentation.
Background. A brief statement defining the topic and purpose of the Educational Session presentation, providing context and relevance to the field.
Discussion. A description of the current state of the current state of the speaker’s field of interest, acknowledging controversies, unresolved questions, or recent developments related to the topic and providing data to support key points.
Future Directions. A brief outline of the speaker’s vision of the future of the field and identifying areas that merit further exploration.
References. Previous reviews were cited where appropriate to avoid an excessively long reference list; the most important references have been highlighted and annotated.
